Our polymer rings are already a practical way into traditional Asiatic archery, but for those who want something with a bit more presence, we offer custom embellishments: metallic coatings, carved patterns, and color-shift finishes that turn a functional piece into something genuinely eye-catching.

Metallic Coatings

The base embellishment option is a permanently bonded metallic color finish. The coating creates a textured, media-blasted surface that reads convincingly as metal, especially at the distances most people view a ring on a hand. It will not flake or peel.

Carved Patterns

For more visual depth, carved patterns can be added alongside a metallic coating. Each pattern is physically cut into the ring's surface, revealing the underlying polymer color beneath the coating and giving every piece a subtle uniqueness. The coating covers the whole ring; the carving is applied to the top surface, the largest relatively flat area. The result is genuine contrast and dimension rather than a purely surface effect.

Carvings work on any of our rings, but look most striking on styles with substantial flat surfaces, like the Ottoman or Chinese Spur. Our Manchu-style rings are handled differently: they receive coating on the exterior only, with the pattern wrapping the entire exterior face.

Color-Shift Finishes

The color-shift options are harder to capture in a photograph than they are to appreciate in person. The finish contains pigments that respond dramatically to viewing angle and light direction: hold the ring one way and you might see deep blue; tilt it slightly and it shifts toward purple, then red, then gold. The sequence depends on which palette you choose, and the transition between colors is gradual and continuous rather than a simple two-tone flip. Black is the recommended base polymer color for all color-shift rings, as it allows the full color range to come through without interference.
