Whistling Arrow Heads - Pack of 6
Whistling Arrow Heads - Pack of 6
Whistling arrowheads have a long history in Asiatic archery traditions, used to signal, intimidate, and mark shots in flight, and fire arrows were part of that story too. Flaming whistling arrows were used historically for exactly that purpose, but most of us aren't in a position to send burning projectiles into the sky. The glow-in-the-dark version is about as close as most of us are going to get, and in low light, a shrieking streak of green light arcing across the dark is a dramatic scene.
These come in two versions. The standard set is available in a selection of colors, well suited for daytime use. The GITD version uses a strontium aluminate charge that produces a bright streaking effect in flight. Ten seconds under strong light is enough to charge them. Both versions share the same dimensions, weight, and mounting system, so you can run them interchangeably on the same arrows without any adjustment.
Each head weighs approximately 89.5 grains (5.8g) and produces around 85dB of whistle at one meter. They mount via a standard 9-degree taper and slip over points or shafts up to 8.5mm in diameter. Hotglue can provide an easy reversible mount over existing arrow points. The large, thin profile is what generates that shriek, same as it did in historical bone examples, and that thinness is worth understanding before you shoot. Direct impacts into stuffed bag targets hold up fine even at fairly high draw weights and speeds. It's glancing impacts at odd angles that tend to cause failures. If you want something more forgiving, our rubberized tough version handles those situations better and tests just as loud, though it trades some of the visual appeal of the standard versions for that added durability.
