Our Sarmatian ring is based on an artifact found in Ukraine and dated to the 1st-2nd century AD, making it one of the oldest metal thumb rings ever found. (ref. Symonenko, 2015) The documentation of this bronze ring is beautifully complete, and it is from that which we were able to bring this historic design into the present. Much speculation surrounds the loop at the rear. We hypothesize it was attached to a wrist lanyard that shifts some of the load off the thumb.
